I, Daniel Blake
Daniel Blake, 59 years old, has worked as a joiner most of his life in Newcastle. Having fallen ill with heart disease, he needs help from the state and applies for the out-of-work sickness benefit Employment and Support Allowance. While he endeavors to overcome the struggles involved in getting assistance, he crosses paths with the single mother Katie and her two young children, Daisy and Dylan, who, in order to escape a homeless persons’ hostel in London, must take up residence in an apartment 480 kilometers away. Daniel and Katie find themselves in no man’s land, caught on the barbed wire of welfare bureaucracy.
