Transilvania Pitch Stop to Locarno
Festival del film Locarno and Transilvania International Film Festival join forces to promote the Transilvania Pitch Stop (TPS) winning directors at Locarno Industry Days (9 – 11 August). The young Romanian directors will mingle among Locarno's Industry participants, pitching their new projects to producers, film funds, financing companies, sales agents and distributors. This partnership, which will be renewed in the upcoming years, focuses on promoting the new generation of Romanian filmmakers and helping them through their first steps in film financing.
This year's TPS winners participating at the Industry Days are:
Transilvania Pitch Stop Development Award winner: Tatăl mută munţii (Father Moves Mountains) by Daniel Sandu
- Transilvania Pitch Stop Post Production Award winner: Mariţa by Cristi Iftime, produced by HiFilm Productions
Nadia Dresti (Festival del film Locarno – Delegate of the Artistic Direction and Head of International): "We're very happy to welcoming the TPS emerging directors to Locarno. They belong to the new generation of Romanian cinema, which has reached a very high international recognition, becoming an important and vital part of the contemporary film culture. The Locarno Industry Days will be a perfect platform to find their matching partners for their first films."
Mihai Chirilov (Tranilvania International Film Festival – Artistic Director): "To further expand its commitment to support the New Romanian Cinema, Transilvania International Film Festival added to the ever popular Romanian Days event a brand new platform designed to spot and promote the most promising projects from first-time directors: Transilvania Pitch Stop. We are extremely happy about our new partnership with the prestigious Festival del film Locarno, enhancing the visibility of the two winning TPS projects and increasing their international potential."
