Verliebte Feinde (Enemies in Love)
The Catholic intellectual Peter von Roten comes from the Valais, the Protestant women’s libber Iris von Roten from Lake Zurich. Love brought these two strong personalities together: their ideas for living together, through which both partners were to gain independence, emancipation and personal fulfillment, are still relevant today. Between 1943 and 1950 they wrote some 1,300 letters to each other, in which they discussed feminism, religion, politics, literature, love, open relationships and sexuality. The open and radical way of analyzing their feelings in this correspondence has remained fascinating to this day.
