From coffee, reading the newspaper, to the aperitif and on to cocktails in the wee small hours of the morning – during the eleven days of the Festival ten bars and restaurants will be joining together under the brand name PardoWay to cater to every taste, almost round the clock. Places in the PardoWay scheme will be marked by a totem pole on the Festival del film Locarno’s official map .
The Oasi Casablanca is the ideal spot to take time between screenings and be transported into another world, relaxing with a traditional cup of mint tea and other refreshing drinks, accompanied by an ethnic meal.
In its enchanting lounge with Oriental drapes, one can also smoke variously flavoured tobaccos with the traditional Oriental water pipe. Open from 10 pm. – 1 am, located at the entrance to the Altra Sala.
From 5pm to 9pm on Max Way free appetisers accompany aperitifs that cater to every taste, such as the traditional Bellini, and other local specialities that offer you moments of blissful relaxation.
The Bar Magnolia near the Spazio RSI in Largo Zorzi is open every day from 9 am to 1 am, and you can eat whilst reading the local and foreign newspapers, watching Pardo Live and live radio broadcasts. As an appetiser, every night from 7.30 pm onwards Radiotelevisione svizzera provides free live music and a late night music lounge with a DJ.
In the very centre of Locarno is Fashion2Shè, which offers a range of aperitifs and an attractive lounge for nights out after the screenings. The exclusive SeaLounge Seven is well worth the short trip to Ascona: at this lakeside venue beneath the Seven restaurant (renowned for star chef Ivo Adam) you’ll find the perfect place to enjoy a refreshing cocktail and a bite to eat from the rich buffet or Asian specialty menu, accompanied by a film-themed DJ set.
The interior of Europe’s largest roundabout lights up with music, ethnic food and a lively, carefree atmosphere,
becoming La Rotonda del Festival for eleven days, open from 6pm – 3am, and for its 10th anniversary, is hosting the region Ticino with its various specialities as its host.
From 6pm on, the magical garden of the Bistrot Teatro Paravento offers a special atmosphere in which to try the Guardiano del Farro’s fresh food and thirst-quenching drinks at the bar, and enjoy a warm welcome from the Paravento’s actors and actresses. Every night is enlivened with live music, from World to Blues, tango to Jazz. Nine young Ticino artists will exhibit their work, giving an even more special feel to the venue.
Evenings do not end following the Piazza screenings, but continue in various spots around town.
The Cambusateatro, “theatre performing art box” offers a creative and alternative atmosphere every evening until late, with a live music festival "cambusindie", DJ sets and a bar, with natural food from all over the world, while never forgetting its main prerogative: theatre. There is also LaSuiteDuFestival, a new arrival on the Terrazza Martini, an elegant “lounge” area located in a splendid garden a few metres away from the Piazza Grande, as is leClub, 200 square metres specially adapted for dancing under the stars, and open until 4am in the morning.
Music into the small hours is also on offer at Enjoy Beach, the only lakeside Club in the region, and an integral part of the Lido Locarno. Nights are animated with DJs from the Paris group “Le Baron”. And for those late-night munchies, there is the Pizzeria / Churrascaria, open until 4am in the morning.
There is a free Shuttle Bus from the Piazza Grande to the Lido.
The PardoWay venues are pleased to offer the Festival-going public such a wide range of choice. Visitors can thus get to know Locarno better, enjoying the atmosphere of a place which, beyond the films, the forums and the discussions, provides so many places for meeting up, fun and entertainment.
